Mrs. Nettie Mae Lowery Dixon, 91, of Lancaster, widow of Ray Dixon, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at MUSC Health – Lancaster Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1928 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Charlie Hubert Lowery and Nettie Julia Hammond Lowery. Mrs. Dixon was a long time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She was a very talented seamstress and her work included garments from wedding dresses to men’s suits. Mrs. Dixon loved children and was regarded as the neighborhood Nana.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dixon will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.Mrs. Dixon is survived by three daughters, Nancy Raye Dixon Lynch of Hartsville, Sheila Dixon Broughton and her husband Robert of Heath Springs and Judy Dixon Stevens and her husband Benjamin of Lancaster; a brother, Wiley Jarvis Lowery of Heath Springs; a sister, Martha Lynn Edwards of Heath Springs; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, J. C. Phillips, Melvin Phillips, Charlie Phillips, Edgar Phillips and Wilson Lowery; and a sister, Kathleen Ellis.The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and other times at the home of Martha Lynn Edwards.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Dixon.
