William Greene Williams III

Mr. William Greene Williams, III, 74, of Rock Hill passed away Monday, July 5, 2021. He was born March 7, 1947 in Augusta, GA, a son of the late William G. Williams, Jr. and Betty Harper Williams. Raised in Lancaster, SC, he was a Salutatorian of Lancaster High School Class of 1965. He graduated with highest honors from Clemson University, Bachelors of Science in Metallurgical Engineering and was a member of Clemson ROTC. Mr. Williams was in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-1976. He was employed as an engineer with Fiber Industries in Shelby, NC and Celanese Carbon Fiber Operations in Rock Hill, SC and Charlotte, NC.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Williams will be held Friday, July 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Catoe officiating. Burial will be in the Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC with VFW Honors.Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen Jenkins Williams; two brothers, Thomas H. Williams (Robin Bumgardner) of Pinehurst, NC and Paul Y. Williams (Patricia Horne) of Hendersonville, NC; a sister, Laura Beth Gregory (Benji) of Heath Springs, SC; nephews, Will T. Williams (Kate) of Chapel Hill, NC, Matt Williams USN (Lindsay) of Virgina Beach, VA, Michael Killingsworth USN (Lauren) of San Diego, CA and Stephen Killingsworth USN of Norfolk, VA; nieces, Lauren A. Williams of Pinehurst, NC, Erin Williams Shell (Hogan) of Rome, GA, and Katherine Killingsworth of Heath Springs; and several great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother 1956, his father in 2017 and his step-mother, Carolyn Y. Williams in 2001.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at Lancaster Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritans Purse/Donor Ministries, P.O.
