Mr. William Lewis Marshall, 92, of Lancaster, widower of Betty Jean Walters Marshall, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. He was born December 13, 1926 in Lancaster, a son of the late Thomas Reese Marshall and Julia Florence Marshall. Mr. Marshall was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was a retired service Technician for Slaughter Machine Company. Mr. Marshall served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. The family would like to give special thanks to caregiver Martha Nelson and also to the Lancaster Convalescent Center. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Marshall will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10 a.m. from the graveside at St. Luke United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bill McCown officiating. Mr. Marshall is survived by three daughters, Patty Hilton, Kay Watson and her husband Billy of Lancaster and Karen Roberts all of Lancaster; a brother, Carl Gene Marshall and his wife Susan of Lancaster; a sister, Lavonia Ackerman of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Brandi Knight and her husband Chris, Amber Baker and her husband Neil and Blaire Watson Sturgis; and seven great-grandchildren, Gabe Knight, Ginger Knight, Brenton Baker, Alex Baker, Railey Baker, Ty and Ambree Sturgis. He was preceded in death by a son, William Thomas Marshall; three brothers, Cecil Marshall, Shelly Marshall and JB Marshall; and three sisters, Sara Hunter, Margaret Huckabee and Martha Barrineau. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home of Kay and Billy, 1880 South Potter Road, Lancaster. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720. Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Marshall.
