William Ora Carpenter

Mr. William Ora Carpenter, 90, of Lancaster passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 in Charlotte. He was born December 30, 1929 in Osteen, Florida, to the late William and Jean Carpenter. He grew up in Sanford, Florida, prior to entering the Army in 1951. A buddy he met in the army introduced him to Sudie Ashley, his future wife and the love of his life. Married for nearly 68 years, they were parted by death for only a few scant days.Bill is survived by sons, Randy (Janet), and Ken (Lynn) Carpenter, sisters, Elizabeth (J.C.) Dennis and Jean Pedigo and sister in law, Mary Ann Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, J. C. Carpenter and sister, Christine Huggins.Bill or “Uncle Willie” loved working outdoors and sharing his home grown tomatoes every season with friends and neighbors. Bill had a contagious laugh and all who knew him are confident he is currently strolling the streets of Heaven with a huge grin on his face, walking hand in hand with his bride, Sudie, awed by the wonders he sees around him.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Carpenter will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at graveside at Lancaster Memorial Park with the Rev.
