Velma Mae Tucker Mackey

Mrs. Velma Mae Tucker Mackey, 70, of Heath Springs, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 at CMC-Pineville. She was born July 15, 1947 in Union, SC, a daughter of the late Joseph Tucker and Hazel Haddock Tucker. Mrs. Mackey loved all types of music and was a talented musician herself. She could play any type of stringed instrument and she was a member of the Bluegrass Hall of Fame.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mackey will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2 pm at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Larrimore and Rev. Hampton Hinson officiating. Burial will be in the Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.Mrs. Mackey is survived by her husband Kenneth W. Mackey of Lancaster; a son, Kenny Mackey of N. Myrtle Beach; five daughters, Wanda Woods of Lancaster, Donna Cox of Conway, Debra Woods of Aynor, Carlotta Allen of Raleigh, NC and Tisha Morgan and her husband Matthew Morgan of Heath Springs; a brother, Herman Tucker and his wife, Phyllis of Lancaster; a sister, Bertie Hinson and her husband Hampton of Heath Springs; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Tucker, Billy Tucker and Earl Tucker; and a sister, Nettie Bowers.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Tisha and Matthew Morgan, 2063 Hoke Road, Heath Springs.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Mackey.Read Obituary
