Mr. Van Armstrong Lingle, III, 72, of Chester passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his home. He was born September 2, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia, a son of the late Van Armstrong Lingle, II and Sylvia Arotlin Lingle. Mr. Lingle was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He served our country as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Artillery serving in Vietnam and was a Bronze Star recipient. Mr. Lingle was an employee of the SC Department of Transportation for 18 years before retirement. In retirement he enjoyed reading and traveling. Mr. Lingle was a member of Toast Masters International and former Board President of Chester Little Theater. He enjoyed acting and directing.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Lingle will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Rod Yow officiating. Burial will be at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.Mr. Lingle is survived by his wife, Marsha Lee Bingham Lingle; two daughters, Wendy Cavallone-Ouzts and her husband James of Lancaster and Pamela Lingle Conroy and her husband Jeremie of Rock Hill; a brother, Stephen Lingle of Virginia; two sisters, Susan McKenzie and her husband Jim of Cullpepper, Virginia and Judy Chunyo and her husband Dennis of Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Anna Marie Moore and Alexander O’Connor Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristen Alexandra Tinsley.The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Lancaster Funeral Home.The family suggest that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Lingle.
