Thomas Ray "Tommy" Stroud

Mr. Thomas Ray "Tommy" Stroud, 75, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018. He was born February 1, 1943 in Lancaster, a son of the late William Thomas Stroud and Brinnie Mary Jane Jenkins Stroud and was married to Joan Brown Stroud. Mr. Stroud was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He retired from the State School bus shop. After his retirement, he became a Charlotte Observer route carrier until last month. Mr. Stroud was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 and a U.S. Army Veteran. He loved playing and singing gospel music, fishing and hunting and piddling around his shop. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Stroud will be held Monday, May 21, 2018 at 3 pm at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Montgomery and Mr. Fred Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. Mr. Stroud is survived by his wife Joan Stroud; a daughter Tommie Jo Bowers and her husband Donnie of Raleigh NC; two sons, David Stroud and his wife Laura of Lancaster and Jimmy Stroud and his wife Kristal of Kershaw; one brother Larry Stroud and his wife June of Lancaster; two sisters, Mildred Crook of Kershaw and Nancy Starnes of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Keisha Bowers, Kristen Bowers, Matthew Stroud and Seth Stroud; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan Watford, Kylie Bowers, Ryan Bowers, Kaylee Stroud and Grayson Stroud. He was preceded in death by a son, Robin Stroud; two brothers, Calvin Stroud and Robert Crawford “Bob” Stroud; and a sister, Linda Stroud.The family will receive friends at the home of Jimmy and Kristal Stroud.Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, 3795 Pleasant Plain Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Stroud.Read Obituary
