Mr. Steven “Tater” Pate, 68, of Fort Lawn passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born January 11, 1953 in Lancaster, a son of the late Roy Pate and Juanita Elizabeth Gheantt and was married to Gwendolyn Lawson Pate. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Mr. Pate was a retired Truck Driver, a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Barron Masonic Lodge #261 and Jackson Shrine Club. He loved hunting, fishing, being at the Lancaster Motor Speedway and going to auctions. Mr. Pate loved spending time with his family and friends. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Pate will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Larrimore officiating. Mr. Pate is survived by his wife Gwen L. Pate; one son Michael Pate and his wife Melissa of Fort Lawn; two grandchildren Justin Pate and Callie Pate; one great grandchild; Grayson Michael Pate. Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ann Pate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home.
