Mrs. Shelby Jean Jenkins Roddey, 82, of Lancaster, widow of the late Jack Roddey, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Atrium Health-Main. She was born May 11, 1938 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Drew Fletcher Jenkins and Cleo McManus Jenkins. Mrs. Roddey was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She was a very outgoing person and leaves behind many friends. Mrs. Roddey is best remembered as an employee of the Lancaster Telephone Company and Evans Oil Company. She retired from Southern High Pressure Cleaning. Mrs. Roddey enjoyed working in her flowers. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Roddey will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Robin Hewitt officiating.Mrs. Roddey is survived by three special cousins and care givers, Billie Sue Robinson, Jill Shaw and Rhonda McManus all of Lancaster; a very special family friend, Bobby Morgan who honored Jack’s wishes to look after Shelby, and a life long friend, Mary Oliver. She was preceded in death by two sons, Timmy Hilton and Kevin Roddey; and two sisters, Veronica Love and Barbara “Babs” Pardue.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Roddey.
