Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Johnson Taylor, 87, of Lancaster, widow of W. C. Taylor, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Atrium Health - Pineville. She was born October 3, 1934 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Gilbert John Johnson and Pearl Carter Johnson. Mrs. Taylor was a member of White Springs Baptist Church where she was a devoted and faithful Sunday School Teacher. She loved her Grandchildren and her Church Family. A volunteer at HOPE, she enjoyed her flower garden. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Taylor will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the graveside at Lancaster Memorial Park with the Rev. Brad Threatt officiating. Mrs. Taylor is survived by a son, David Taylor of Lancaster; two daughters, Susan Bailey McGaughy (Chuck) of Lancaster and Anne Taylor McManus (Jeff) of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Savannah Bailey, Ashlyn Bailey, Ian McGaughy and Jeffrey Taylor McManus; three sisters, Shirley Crook (Van) of North Myrtle Beach, Helen “Shelby” Williams (Bill) of Clover and Doris Peck (Robert “Bob”) of Hernando, Florida; and a sister in law, Karen Johnson of Lancaster. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse “Buddy” Johnson and Wayne Johnson; and two sisters, Mildred Small and Imogene Catoe. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
