Roy Jennings Jarrell

Mr. Roy J. Jarrell, 86, of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born July 2, 1934 in Kanawha, West Virginia, a son of the late Earl Jarrell and Virgie Elswick Jarrell. Roy had a successful career as a contract crane operator at Bethlehem Steel. His joys were family, cookouts and the outdoors. In 2017, Roy moved to Lancaster, SC. He remained very active in his years living with his daughter. Roy enjoyed gardening, yardwork, his chickens, trips to see family in New York and Nevada. Two of his bucket list trips he enjoyed were a visit to Alaska and most recently a July road trip to Yellowstone. Mr. Jarrell is survived by a son, Jeff Jarrell and his wife Lori of Lancaster; a daughter, Wendy Culler and her husband Marc of Lancaster; three step-daughters, Joanne McFayden, Susan Bruckman and Anne Ongley and her husband Jeff all of Buffalo, NY; nine grandchildren, Erin Pool, Ben Horency, Jill Mecca, Charles McFayden, Jr., Brian Fox, Tim Ongley, Robin McFayden, Tina Nickerson and Tammy Nickerson; 13 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Pretty Girl. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Jarrell; four brothers; and one sister. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Lancaster Funeral Home.
