Dee was my grandfather. I'm his oldest grandkid and i hate that i never knew him like his other grandkids. My mother loved her dad no matter what and never said a bad word about him to us. We all know the stories but i wish he would have taken the time to get to know us like he did his other ones. I've seen Dee a couple times over the last couple of years and even then it felt awkward and I was out of place and he is my grandad. I am sad that he is gone but also happy he is no longer in any pain. Also he is with my mama now so that gives me a little bit of comfort. At the end of the day he is still my grandfather and I did love him.
My most profound sadness is never meeting you, my father, in person. I send my deepest condolences to my siblings and family that lay you to rest today. May they know that although your earthly body is gone, you will live forever within in them; through the lessons you have shown them throughout their lives, whether good or bad, they were still lessons learned. I pray that you are at peace now. Until we meet in the afterlife, may God be with your soul. Love, Your Daughter Angela
