Myra "Lulu" Whitaker Brooks

Mrs. Myra Whitaker “Lulu” Brooks, 67, of Lancaster, wife of Thelbert Leon Brooks, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019. She was born December 4, 1951 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Sidney Oscar Outen and Nannie Bell Ghent Outen Small. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Brooks will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Larrimore officiating.Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband, Thelbert Leon Brooks; a son, Sonny Leon Brooks and his wife Sherry of Jefferson; a daughter, Pamela Brooks McCorkle and her husband Michael of Lancaster; two brothers, Mickey Whitaker and his wife Doris of Lancaster and Leonard Outen and his wife Sandy of Iron Station, NC; a sister, Dianne Hudson of Denver, NC; four grandchildren, Michael McCorkle, Jr. and his wife Brittney, Casey McCorkle and his wife Courtney, Blake McClain and Emma Brooks; and four great grandchildren, Alexi McCorkle, Landon McCorkle, Michael McCorkle and Logan McCorkle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Outen, Jimmy Whitaker, and Jerry Outen; and three sisters Dela Carnes, Eva Hinson and Ellen “Beakey” Welsh.The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home.Memorial contributions may be made to Thelbert Brooks.Notes to the family may be made at www.lancasterfuneralhome.com.
