Mr. Michael Kim Roof, 66, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at his home. He was born May 6, 1955 in Lancaster, a son of the late Donnie J. “Whitey” Roof and Doris Belk Gates. Mr. Roof loved all kinds of racing, riding in his golf cart, old TV shows and collecting NASCAR Memorabilia. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Roof will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Trent McLaughlin officiating. Mr. Roof is survived by a daughter, Paige Baker and her husband Jimbo of Lancaster; a sister, Debbie Roof Barber of Lancaster; six brothers, Chuck Gates of Rock Hill, Gabe Gates of Pennsylvania, Greg Gates, Richard Carpenter, James Roof and Craig Roof all of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Breanna Roof, Alyssa Baker and Hunter Baker.
