Mary Marlene Herring Pate

Mary Marlene Herring Pate passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021. She was born September 9, 1931 in Lancaster, SC, daughter of Mr. Walter Herring and Mrs. Mozelle Small Herring. She was a faithful wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mrs. Pate was a member of Second Baptist Church and worked at Springs Industry until retirement. She was very proud of her role as "Granna" and spent many of her final years traveling all around with Poppa to support their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pate will held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 1 pm at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park. Mrs. Pate is preceded in death by her husband, Reecie Pate, her son, Mickey Pate, her brother, Maxie Herring, and her "sis-in-law" and best friend, Jourleen Pate. She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Pate Adams and her husband, Chuck, of Surfside Beach, SC, Patty Pate Runion and her husband Mike, of Simpsonville, SC, and Teresa Pate Gardner and her husband, Jeff, of Chesterfield, SC; nine grandchildren, Chip Adams (Jordan), Paige Adams Strickland (Scott), Catherine Runion Atwood (Brent), Rebecca Runion Peterson (Scott), Anna Adams Burnette (Cagney), Andrew Runion (Megan), Pate Gardner (Adrianna), Cameron Gardner, and Layne Gardner; and 18 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
