Mrs. Kathryn Lewis Cauthen Lambert, 91, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born March 22, 1927 in Lancaster, the only child of the late William Lewis Cauthen and Lillian Bell “Lilly Bell” McKeown Cauthen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 ½ years, William P. “Billy” Lambert. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Lambert Snipes; her son in law, J. Frank Snipes; and her granddaughters, Jennifer Susan Snipes of Central and Lauren Megan Snipes of Columbia. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, and was baptized at the age of 12 in August 1939, by her Pastor, the Rev. J. A. Faile. Upon the death of her father, when she was 5 months old, she and her mother made their permanent home with her paternal grandparents, James A. “Jim” and Ella Ross Crenshaw Cauthen. She felt deeply grateful and fortunate for her home provided by her grandparents, from infancy. She felt privileged to work as secretary to management at the Lancaster Plant, Springs Industries for more than 40 years. She was thankful for the opportunity and for the good people with whom and for whom she worked.In keeping with Mrs. Lambert’s wishes, services were private. A private graveside service was held at New Hope Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, January 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Steven Pace officiating. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials would be gratefully accepted to New Hope Baptist Church, Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, 3731 Lynwood Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.
