Josephine Morrow Culp Baird

Mrs. Josephine Morrow Culp Baird, 89, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her home. She was born May 25, 1928 in Morganton, NC, a daughter of the late Henry T. Morrow and Alice Phillips Morrow. Mrs. Baird was twice widowed, by Harry Edwin Culp and by Dr. Haynes Baird. Mrs. Baird owned and operated Jo’s Day Nursery and Giant Steps in Lancaster for nearly 50 years helping to raise three generations of children. She was an early proponent for early childhood education and started one of Lancaster’s first kindergartens. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and traveling and was a member of Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Baird will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2 pm at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Kyle Sims officiating. Burial will be in the Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery.Mrs. Baird is survived by two sons, Dr. Steven Culp and his wife, Beverly, of Lancaster and Harry Edwin Culp, Jr. and his wife, Tena, of Orangeburg; a sister, Myrtle Huss of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Culp, Kathryn Elizabeth Culp, Dana Miriam Wulfert, Brandy Culp, Sarah Culp Harrell, Harry Edwin Culp, III and Johnny Ulysses Culp; and eight great-grandchildren, Ellis Wulfert, Sam Wulfert, Hayden Wingard, Jocelyn Wingard, Oliver Culp, Christina Harrell, Harry Culp and Emma Culp. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Phillip Morrow, Henry Morrow, Jr. and Jim Morrow; and four sisters, Betty Morrow, Blanche Gale, Ethel Kincade and Margaret Morrow.The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Lancaster Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church, P.O.
