Mr. Joseph Alexander “Joe” Thompson, 87, of Lancaster passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born March 24, 1933 in Lancaster, a son of the late William Walter Thompson and Lois Irene Caskey Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a member of Douglas Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder and Elder Emeritus. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Mr. Thompson loved puzzles, cutting grass, woodworking and fixing things. He loved the outdoors, driving his tractor and playing solitaire. His favorite TV station was RFD-TV and country music. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Thompson will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Hammond, Rev. Allen Williams and Rev. Christina Trimble officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park with Military Honors.Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Emma Arant Thompson of Lancaster; three sons, Scott Thompson and his wife Sheila of Lancaster, Tony Thompson and his wife Tabatha of Lugoff and Tim Williams and his wife Ann Marie of Panama City, FL; two daughters, Becky Montes and her husband Jose of Melbourne, FL and Mona Moorman and her husband Tom of Fort Mill; one sister, Faye Caskey and her husband Clyde of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Scott Thompson; and a sister, Nancye Hersey.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Lancaster Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to Douglas Presbyterian Church, 2325 Sunday Place, Lancaster, SC 29720.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Thompson.Read Obituary
