John Leahy was a valued member of our Indian Land VFW Post 12136. He served our Nation in the Army Infantry during the Korean War and returned home an honored warrior. He lived a long and productive life for 93 years traveling far from his boyhood home in Warren Rhode Island. He will soon return to the home of his youth. In memory of Veteran John Leahy these words will accompany you on your final journey home:

“A Hero Had to Do – What A Hero Had To Do”
“You fought for your family and your country, nation, and the people of it. You had to fight so you had to go. First at home, then war, and now your home where the Lord has a place for you that you can call your own. You told the Lord of your stories and how much you had to fight. Now, the Lord who knows you best said you can stop the fight and rest with me”

Uncle John was a great man. I love him so much I named my son after him. It was at a family reunion in Indiana in 1993. I asked him want is your middle name and he said Joseph. I told him I will name my son after you. He will be missed put not forgotten I will see one day in gloryland. Love you your Neice Tina Long
