Joe Thomas Amason Jr.

Mr. Joe Thomas Amason, Jr., 84, of Lancaster, husband of Saundra Elizabeth Sellers Amason, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 at his home. He was born November 21, 1935 in Merkel, Texas, a son of the late Joe Thomas Amason, Sr. and Polly Thomas Amason. Mr. Amason attended Texas Tech. After he finished college, he began a career in the petroleum industry. He remained in the industry until his retirement. He was employed with National Wellhead Control and worked primarily in Texas and Oklahoma. Mr. Amason was of the Baptist faith and was loyal to his church. He served his church in various capacities including as a deacon.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Amason will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Rusty McAlister officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.Mr. Amason is survived by his wife, Saundra Elizabeth Sellers Amason; two sons, Joe Amason, III and his wife Cay of Lancaster and Ron Amason of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren, Tim, Sarah, Christopher, Melanie, and Amber; and five great grandchildren, Tyler, Turner, Releigh, Greyson and Senora.The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Lancaster Funeral Home.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Amason.Read Obituary
