Mrs. Janie Caskey Harper, 88, of Heath Springs, widow of Frank Harper, died Sunday, June 27, 2021. She was born January 28, 1933 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Clarence Everett Caskey and Janie Gwin Caskey. Mrs. Harper retired from Grace Bleachery where she worked in the engineering department for 30 years. She was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 68 years. Mrs. Harper served in various capacities and is most remembered for overseeing the clothes closet for 20 plus years. Her favorite activities were reading and talking. Mrs. Harper never met a stranger. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Harper will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Harper is survived by three daughters, Sue Harper Poss of North Myrtle Beach, Alice Harper Reeves of Heath Springs and Patti Harper of North Myrtle Beach; a brother, Clyde Caskey and his wife Faye of Lancaster; three grandchildren, James Page and his wife Hannah, Ben Reeves and his wife Jenn and Adam Reeves; a step-granddaughter, Joanna McCumber and her husband Joe; five great-grandchildren, Allie Reeves, Gideon Reeves, Levi Reeves, Madeline Page and Emmalene Page; and a step great-granddaughter, Leah McCumber. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gwin Caskey. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4357 Kershaw Camden Highway, Heath Springs, SC 29058 and other times at the home of Mrs. Harper, 3549 McIlwain Road, Heath Springs.
