Mrs. Janette McDow Steele, 90, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her home. She was born August 1, 1927 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Alfred Cunningham McDow and Bessie McDonald McDow. Mrs. Steele was a member of Douglas Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, and a lifetime member of Women of the Church.A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Steele will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2 pm at Douglas Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Harriss Ricks officiating. Inurnment will be in the Douglas Presbyterian Church Cemetery Columbarium.Mrs. Steele is survived by her husband, Herman Ester Steele of Lancaster; three sons, Herman E. Steele, Jr. “Sonny” and his wife Donna of Clayton, NC, Alfred “Doc” Steele and his wife Janice of Lancaster, and Roy Steele and his wife Brenda of Lake Wateree; six grandchildren, Staci Simmons, Lisa Crenshaw, Tessa Cox, Merridy Mabry, Scott Steele and Brad Steele; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two step-grandchildren, Steven Brant and Valerie Kardatzke. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James McDonald McDow and Alfred C. McDow; two sisters, Elizabeth McDow Baker and Margaret McDow; and a step-granddaughter, Terri Ledbetter.The family will receive friends following the service in the Douglas Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home of Herman and Janette Steele.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Douglas Presbyterian Church, 2325 Sunday Place, Lancaster, SC 29720.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Steele.Read Obituary

Mr. Herman, Sonny, Doc, Roy, and Family, Mrs. Janette was such a wonderful lady. I will never forget her kindness to me when we were all growing up. Deepest sympathy and prayers for you all. May God grant you His peace.
