James Leroy Roof

Mr. James Leroy Roof, 72, of Lancaster passed away Friday, July 8, 2022 at his home. He was born September 15, 1949 in Lancaster, a son of the late James W. Roof and Virginia Wright Roof. Mr. Roof loved to fish and play golf. He was a Veteran and in order to provide for his family, often traveled the world. He was a loving father and took good care of his family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Roof will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Douglas Pate officiating. Mr. Roof is survived by two sons, James Roof, Jr. of Miami Lakes, FL and Jonathan Roof of Lancaster; his former wife, Maria Iglesias of Miami, FL; two brothers, Johnny Roof and Ray Roof both of Lancaster; two sisters, Gloria Cauthen and Maxine Lucas both of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Miranda Roof, Milena Roof, Seth Roof and Peyton Roof. The family will receive friends following the service at Lancaster Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Wounded Warriors Project, 1990 Fordham Drive, Suite 100, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
