Mr. James R. Long, 77, of Lancaster passed away Friday, March 12, 2021. He was born October 4, 1943 in Lancaster, a son of the late George Washington Long and Fannie Shehane Long Lucas and was married to Barbara McAteer Long. Mr. Long was employed with Seamens Westinghouse as a crane operator for 35 years. He enjoyed rooting for his favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. He took advantage of his retirement years to indulge in his two favorite activities hunting and fishing. He and Barbara were married for 30 years. Mr. Long was the stepson of the late Mr. Johnny Lucas.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Long will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park. Mr. Long is survived by his wife Barbara M. Long of the home; one step son, Robbie West (Beth) of Chester, SC; five step daughters; Sandra West (Lorenzo) of Blythewood SC, Shari Sanders of Chester, Kim Lennon (Jimmy) of Rock Hill, Brooke Jessee (John) of Lancaster, and Nikki Bratton (Greg) of Rock Hill; ten grandchildren; Leanne, Rob, Jonathan, Anthony, Kayla, Logan, Cameron, Quinton, Landon, and John Kohl; eight great grandchildren; two sisters; Ann McAteer (Donnie) and Linda Hinson (John) of Lancaster; two nephews, Larry Hunter (Kelly) and Scott Long (Tosha); one niece Sherry Lynn Hinson (Michael); one great niece Jenna Petty (Jackie).
