Mr. Howard Eugene Reeves, 90, of Heath Springs, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. He was born April 10, 1927 in Lancaster, a son of the late John Reeves and Idell Blackmon Reeves. Mr. Reeves was twice widowed by Sybil R. Reeves and Dorothy R. Reeves. He enjoyed a long, fruitful and adventurous life. Mr. Reeves was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was very patriotic and served our country in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines. After his years in service he was employed by Springs Industries for 45 years until his retirement. Mr. Reeves was also civic minded. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, a Mason and a member of AA where he served as treasurer. He abstained from alcohol for 40 years after joining AA. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Reeves will be held Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 3 pm at Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Robin Hewitt officiating. Burial will be in the Flint Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Reeves is survived by a son, Tim Reeves of Heath Springs; a daughter, Cynthia Elaine Smith of Waxhaw, NC; a grandchild, Tracy Faile; and two great-grandchildren, Nikki and Chance Faile. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Reeves; a daughter, Jeanine Carol Reeves; three brothers, Wade Reeves, John Reeves, Jr. and Allen Reeves; four sisters, Jewell Baker, Inez Reeves, Nora Reeves and Jean Reeves. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Lancaster Funeral Home. Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Reeves.
