Mr. Gilbert Redford Outen, 88, of Ridgeway passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at White Oak Manor, Lancaster, SC. He was born August 11, 1933 in Kershaw, SC, a son of the late James Redford and Bleeka Talbert Outen. He was married to Edna Jean Parkman Outen for 52 years. Mr. Outen served in the United States Air Force and retired from General Motors, Flint, Michigan. He and his wife, Jean retired to Myrtle Beach and lived there for over 20 years. Mr. Outen was an avid hunter and loved to fish with his daughter in law (Debbie) at Lake Wateree.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Outen will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. from the graveside at Lake Wateree Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Pelham officiating. Mr. Outen is survived by a daughter, Gloria Twitty (Darrell), two sons, Mike Evans (Debbie) and George Evans; a sister, Sadie Phillips (Joe); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; sisters, Ruby Outen, Wilma Truesdale, Bernice Payne, Lois Taylor, Francis Phillips, Faye Johnson; and brothers, Willie Outen and James T. “Bud” Outen.The family will receive friends following the graveside service.The family would like to thank White Oak Manor, Lancaster (Unit One) for the great care that was provided for Mr. Outen.
