Evelyn Bailey Faulkenberry, 97, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Lancaster on September 19, 1921 in the Elgin community. She was the daughter of the late Haskell Bailey and Theresa Caskey Bailey and the widow of Jones Allen Faulkenberry. Evelyn and Jones built a happy home together. All of her children knew at an early age how fortunate they were to have both loving parents. She was well known for her sewing and cooking skills and her cakes were treasured by family and friends. Christmas for her included baking about 10 or more different cakes. She never needed to wonder what kind she should make because there were plenty of people reminding her of their own favorite cakes by Evelyn.She was a long time member of Elgin Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, helped with Sunbeams, GA's, and WMU Society. Evelyn was also a member of Eastern Star.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Faulkenberry will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Elgin Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Rudisill officiating. A private committal will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.She is survived by her children Mitchell M. Faulkenberry (Lynda), Dixie F. Roberts, (Bobby), Haskell C. Faulkenberry (Sandi), a son-in-law, Tony Armstrong, and sisters in law Jeannette Faulkenberry and Loletta Faulkenberry.She had eight grandchildren: Michelle, Melinda, Jason, Joshua, Justin, Brooks, Morgan, and Bailey; and 11 great grandchildren: Caitlyn, Stephen, Roger, Jones Pedroni, Ali Grace, Laney, Natolee, Maryjoe, Stella, Angelique, Jones Roberts and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Jones Allen Faulkenberry, and two children, a daughter, Joan F. Armstrong, and a son, Nelson A.
