Mrs. Eleanor Evans, 91, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at her home. She was born January 2, 1930 in Rossville, SC, a daughter of the late Clyburn L. Cauthen and Tcora McMurray Cauthen.She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and loved being with her family and friends. The love of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She worked at Springs Industries, Lancaster Plant for over 30 years until her retirement.She was always thankful for ones that cared for her, the nurses and staff at White Oak Manor and for the many new friends she met there. She loved the church, music and activities that they provided.A private service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Evans will be at the graveside at Lancaster Memorial Park with the Rev. Chris Tipton officiating.Mrs. Evans is survived by one son, John David (Whitey) Aldridge and his wife Janis and one daughter Catherine Elaine Aldridge all of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Jennifer Newman of Lancaster, Jessica Newman of Sharpsburg, GA, Jill Newman and Dave Hart of Greenville, GA, Jason Aldridge and his wife Marissa of Johns Island, Jeana Aldridge Utheim and her husband Stan of Summerville; Seven great grandchildren, Kelton Newman, Jean Douglas (J.D.) Gautreau, Liam Hart, Norah and Alice Utheim, and Genevieve and Mary Eleanor Aldridge; and one sister, June Cauthen Reeves of Kershaw, a sister in law, Linda Cauthen of Camden, a brother in law, Chris Burns of Liberty Hill and Tina Catoe Ross, a special member of the family and her husband B. C. of Kershaw. Elaine and Whitey - Jimmy and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of Eleanor. She was such a sweet person and my mother loved her friendship so much. Eleanors photo was in mamas billfold when she (mama) died. Eleanor was the last of the best ( “Elm Street ladies). Eleanor, mama, Pearline and Annie Grace, such good friends! God bless you and your family!
Eleanor was so sweet I will miss those walks we took everyday in the nursing home she was always happy I will miss her.
