Mr. Charles Sullivan Roddey, 78, of Manhattan Beach, CA and formerly of Lancaster, died at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California after a short illness. Born in Lancaster, Charles was a son of the late James Gillespie Roddey, Sr. and Louise Sullivan Roddey. He attended Clemson University and Georgia Technical University and graduated from the University of California, Berkley. After graduation, Charles worked for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft for many years. Later he became an entrepreneur dealing mostly in real estate. He enjoyed salsa dancing and looked forward to visiting his relatives in Lancaster every Thanksgiving or Christmas.A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 at West Side Cemetery in Lancaster. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Roddey. He is survived by many cousins.Lancaster Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

I was saddened to hear of Charles passing......My memories of Charles are all the Christmas dinners he and his brother Jimmy would spend at Mama and Deddy's house.......Deddy always loved his chats with Charles!Matter of fact the last picture I had of Deddy at Christmas in 1982 he and Charles were sitting in Deddy's bedroom having a good talk because I remember Deddy was laughing a lot!Then April 30 0f 83 Deddy died!May you,Charles,Rest in peace with the other Roddey's gone on before us!Love Margaret Ann Roddey Rushing
