Charles Robert "Bob" Hovis

Mr. Charles Robert “Bob” Hovis, 78, of Lancaster passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home. He was born November 16, 1939 in High Shoals, NC, a son of the late Pervie Augustus Hovis and Gaither Bernice Friday Hovis. Mr. Hovis was a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Mr. Hovis was an Eagle Scout; he attended Boy’s State; a graduate of Pfeiffer University, a member of the Lion’s Club and a member of Fork Hill Masonic Lodge #316. He loved woodworking, collecting stamps, and taking pictures. Mr. Hovis retired from B.C. Moore’s and later from Carolina Tire Company. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hovis will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2 pm at Rich Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Rod Yow officiating. Burial will be in the Rich Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hovis is survived by two sons, Kirk Charles Hovis and his wife Beverly of Heath Springs and Russell Elliott Hovis and his wife Wendy of Lancaster; a sister, Nancy Hovis Cox and her husband Henry of Maiden, NC; a brother-in-law, Jim Abernathy of Stanley, NC; a sister-in-law, Joyce Hovis of High Shoals, NC; and four grandchildren, Hannah Hovis Denkins and her husband Tyler, Peyton Marie Hovis, Rachel Faye Hovis and Colt Jackson Hovis. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Hovis and Jack Hovis; and two sisters, Betty Willis and Carolyn Abernathy. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Ministries Building and other times at the home of Kirk and Beverly Hovis.
