Mr. Charles Elbert Brooks, 69, of Kershaw, husband of Juanita Helms Brooks, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born July 19, 1950 in Lancaster, a son of the late Leon Brooks and Helen Johnson Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. He was a loving husband of 49 years, father, grandfather (Pop), brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports. He loved going to church, being with his family and church family. He was proud of the accomplishments of his family and grandchildren and was their hero. He loved life and lived it to the fullest (especially on his tractor). A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Brooks will be held Monday, January 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Larrimore officiating. Burial will be in the Blackmon Cemetery. Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife of 49 years, Juanita Helms Brooks; three sons, Rodney Brooks and his wife Pam of Monroe, Stephen Brooks and his wife Anna and Jeffry Brooks and his wife April all of Kershaw; three brothers, Thomas Brooks and his wife Geraldine of Heath Springs, Thelbert Brooks and Mark Brooks and his wife Terri all of Lancaster; two sisters, Betty Rabon and Shirley Adams and her husband John all of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Craig Brooks (Haley) Chase Brooks, Breeanna Brooks, Austin Brooks and Raegan Brooks; a great grandson, Bowen Brooks; and three step grandchildren, Lanie Davis, Madison Davis and Skylar Davis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home.
