Mr. Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Blackmon, 90, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born February 21, 1932 in Lancaster, South Carolina a son of the late Sam Blackmon and Cola Couch Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon is a Korean War Veteran and retired from Lancaster County Public Works. He loved working in his yard and garden. The apple of his eye was his grandson Jon.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Blackmon will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. from the graveside at Flint Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Kelvin Hinson officiating.Mr. Blackmon is survived by his daughter Kathy Beaumont and Fiancé Danny Jackson of Lancaster; and his grandson Jon Beaumont and his significant other, Stephanie Crummie of West Columbia.He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Susie Steen Blackmon; six brothers, Bobby Blackmon, Clifford “Jr” Blackmon, Gus Blackmon, Thurlow Blackmon, MF Blackmon, and Jimmy Blackmon; and three sisters, Verda Knight, Polly Truesdale, and Willie Mae Moore.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Lancaster Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Blackmon.Read Obituary

Kathy (Danny) and Jon (Stephanie), we are so sorry to hear about Mr. Ben. At the age of 90, he's lived a wonderful, long life. Still, he will be missed by many.
