Willie E. Murphy, 73, known by friends and co-workers as Boxcar Willie, passed away on July 10, 2015. He was the son of the late Will Edward and Pearl Lockman Murphy of Monroe, North Carolina. He retired from Bowater Corp. as a Maintenance Mill Wright in 2001. He was an active member of St Luke United Methodist Church, and Friends in Christ Sunday School class.He is survived by his wife, Faye McAteer Murphy, his son, Russell Murphy, and daughters Wanda and Lisa Murphy, all of Lancaster, South Carolina. Willie was an only child, but was still blessed with a brother and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bobby Ray McAteer, the only brother he ever knew. Likewise, he is survived by his sisters-in-law, Linda J. McAteer, and Frances M. Parris, the best sisters anyone could ever have. Additionally, he is survived by his longtime friend and brother in Christ, Jimmy Hinson.The family will receive friends Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the St. Luke UMC Welcome Center and in lieu of flowers, send memorial contributions to St. Luke UMC, 128 Providence Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720.Lancaster Funeral Home, 709 N.
