William Alton Bowers

Mr. William Alton Bowers, 84, of Lancaster, widower of Etta Irene Wheeler Bowers passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at his home. He was born January 10, 1930 in Heath Springs, a son of the late Elmer Eugene Bowers and Jacie Beulah Mahaffey Bowers.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bowers will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11 am at from the graveside with the Rev. Donald Waldrop officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.Mr. Bowers is survived by a son, William Keith Bowers and his wife Glenda of Fort Worth, TX; a daughter, Billie Jean Stewart of Fort Worth, Texas; a step-son, Morrison Hunter of Lancaster, two step-daughters, Elaine “Sis” Melton and Darlene Helms and her husband Billy all of Lancaster; two sisters, Betty Taylor and Peggy Demeter both of Lancaster; 14 grandchildren, Donnie Hunter, Shonda Hunter Carlton, Ricky Melton, Michael Melton, Brian Helms, David Melton, Stacey Helms Kirkley, Sharla Meador, Brandon Bowers, Amanda Linder, James Miles Stone, Justin Stone, Hanna Carlton and Camri Carlton; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Joyce Leeth; and four brothers, Olin Bowers, Jerry Bowers, Wade Bowers, and Bernard Bowers.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Bowers.Read Obituary
