Varnetta Carol Ray Bowers

Mrs. Varnetta Carol Ray Bowers, 90, widwo of Marion Bowers, Jr., of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Providence Hospital Columbia. She was born May 18, 1925 in Kershaw, a daughter of the late Lawrence Ray and Etta Roberts Ray. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Westside Baptist Church where she had been active in the church.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bowers will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Catoe officiating. Burial will be in the Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.Mrs. Bowers is survived by two daughters, Sandra Dawkins and her husband, J. C. of Heath Springs and Elaine Pate and her husband Calvin of Lancaster; a sister, Thelma Sistare of Lancaster; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren, and twenty five great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Bowers; three brothers, Carl Ray, Heyward Ray and T. J. Ray; and a sister, Viola Gandy.The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of J.
