Robert Leverne Rentz

Mr. Robert Leverne Rentz, 84, of Kershaw passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Hospital in Columbia. He was born October 25, 1931 in Hollywood, SC, a son of the late Harry Rentz and Mamie Lou Ritter Rentz. Mr. Rentz was a member of High Point Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Mr. Rentz served our country in the U.S. Navy with 20 years of faithful service. He enjoyed bowling, leather working, had a passion for building and maintaining cars. Mr. Rentz was a regular at Jomars Family Restaurant for over 20 years.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Rentz will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 2 pm at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Brasington and Rev. Todd Horton officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.Mr. Rentz is survived by his wife, Virginia Eason Rentz of Kershaw; a son, Robert Leverne “Bobby” Rentz of Lancaster; a step-son, Joel Self of Mt. Croghan; a daughter, Denise Carol Hughes and her husband Ronald of Lexington, NC; two step-daughters, Debra Shipman and her husband Joey of Lancaster and Sherry Faile of Kershaw; a brother, Ernest Rentz and his wife Shirley of Hollywood, SC; three sisters, Ellis Porter of Hollywood, SC, Betty Piguet and her husband Edwin of James Island and Rolinda Williamson of Cayce; three grandchildren, Christina Sink, Kenneth Holt and Sidney Faile; and four great-grandchildren, Kaylie Sink, Hannah Sink, Nydaysha Rentz and NyJeri Rentz. He was precede in death by his first wife, Eva Jean Craig Rentz; and three brothers, Barney Rentz, Cornelius Rentz and Gary Rentz.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Robert and Virginia.Memorial contributions may be made to WJB Dorn VA Medical Center, 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209, C/O Volunteer Services, Warriors Walk.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Rentz.Read Obituary
