Mrs. Renea Caskey Steele, 48, of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her home. She was born January 14, 1966 in Lancaster, a daughter of Everett Gwin Caskey and Carolyn Adams Caskey.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Steele will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11 am from the graveside with the Rev. Steve Anglin officiating. Burial will be in the Douglas Presbyterian Church Cemetery.Mrs. Steele is survived by her husband, Jeffrey L. Steele of Lancaster; three sons, Mychal Devin Allman and his wife Audrey, Mitchell Shane Allman, Robert “Bo” Everett Allman; and a step-son, Jeffrey Steele all of Lancaster; her mother, Carolyn Adams Caskey of Lancaster; and her father, Gwin Caskey and step-mother, Diane Smith Caskey of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Gwin Caskey.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1307 Westmoreland Drive, Lancaster or 2474 J. I just learned of Renea's passing today. I cannot believe my sweet, precious, beautiful blue eyed cousin has gone to be with Jesus. I have so many wonderful childhood memories and special times spent with Renea to look back on. We grew up together at Grandmother Adams house on Kings Circle. We slept on pallets around the Christmas tree with all of our other cousins while Aunt Carolyn played Christmas songs on the piano. We played outside in the backyard with Michael and Tony and ate blue cupcakes at birthday parties. The most memorable time for Renea and me is when she and I both went into premature labor at the same time and we both ended up at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte on the same floor giving birth. We met halfway to go see our babies and in our wheelchairs we sat side by side looking at our firstborn sons through the nursery window. Devan was born just a few hours before my Justin in January 1989. Everyone always said that Renea and I looked like sisters. I loved her like a sister. To Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Gwin, Devan, Mitch, Bo and all of your family members, I send my prayers and Love to you. Your daughter, mother, wife and my precious cousin Renea will be so greatly missed. No words can heal our broken hearts right now, but our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will carry us through this heartbreak. Shortly, I will say goodbye to my dear friend, Renea. I miss the days of being best friends with you. I'll cherish all the memories - Birthday parties, Fun times at Bethel Baptist Church, and all of our trips....especially to the Poconos and NY City! I promise to smile each time I think of you! Devin, Mitchy and Bo - I know I don't have to tell you how special your Mom was, she cherished all three of you! Her sweet smile and loving spirit would brighten any room as soon as she walked in - she loved everyone. Renea, you will be missed by everyone that knew you. I know you are rejoicing in heaven with God today!
May the God of peace and mercy send you comfort at this time. I did not know Renea well. We shared a neighborhood cat together by feeding it. Both Renea and her husband were kind people. I wish we had known them better. We are across the street if you need us.
