Nancy Ernestine Lucas Harmon, 73, “Sis” to all who knew and loved her, slipped away from our loving arms on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Sis was born in Lancaster on July 1, 1941 to the late Hazel “Red” Lucas and Elizabeth Roof Lucas. She was a member of Alpha Life Church of God of Prophecy, were she taught Sunday School, was Director of Missions and Choir Director. Sis was known for caring for family and friends in their time of need. Her greatest joy was taking care of children and she loved and cared for many children in her home until retiring.A service to celebrate Sis’s life will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marie Proctor and Rev. Brian King officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.She is survived by: her husband of 55 years, Franklin Edgar Harmon, Sr.; two sons, Franklin (Eddie) Harmon, Jr. of Winnsboro, Hazel Lee Harmon of Lancaster; a daughter, Melody Gonzalez, of Lancaster; four brothers, Robert Lucas and his wife Linda, Hazel Lucas and his wife Betty, Carl Lucas and his wife Joann and Joe Lucas of Lancaster; two sisters, Becky Lyles and husband Clyde of Lancaster and Mary Lea Lipscomb and husband Ed of Fort Lawn; two granddaughters, April Broome and Nicole Deese and husband Jeffery of Lancaster; five great-granddaughters, many nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two daughters, Katherine Elizabeth Harmon and Kimberly Dawn Harmon and a brother Jimmy Richard Lucas.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 961 Anderson Drive, Lancaster.Memorial contributions may be made to Regency Hospice, 420 Herlong Ave., Suite 104, Rock Hill, SC 29732.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Harmon.
