Myrtle Lee Joyner Whitaker

Mrs. Myrtle Lee Joyner Whitaker, 90, of Lancaster, widow of Heyward William Whitaker, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born November 28, 1925 in Kershaw, a daughter of the late William Banxton Joyner and Ola Martha Blackmon Joyner. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she had helped with Bible School had been very active in Sunday School and had assisted with church training with the juniors.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Whitaker will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11 am at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.Mrs. Whitaker is survived by two sons, Donnie H. Whitaker and his wife Alice and Tony M. Whitaker all of Lancaster; a sister, Henrietta J. Deason of Darlington; and four grandchildren, Martin W. Funderburk, Jeremy Funderburk, Laura Funderburk Hinson, and Jamie Lee Whitaker; and three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha W. Funderburk; a grandson, Scott Whitaker; and five brothers, Shellie B. Joyner, C. Wilson Joyner, Rev. Coy B. Joyner, Jack W. Montgomery and Floyd B.
