Mr. Michael James Walters, 66, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his home. He was born March 16, 1948 in Lancaster, a son of the late James Woodrow Walters and Sybil Lorraine Shute Walters. Mr. Walters was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. A US Army Vietnam Veteran, he was a member of the Buford Fire Department for 20 + years. He loved farming, woodworking, hunting and NASCAR Racing. He retired from Springs Industries following 47 years of service.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Walters will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Tabernacle United Methodist Church with the Rev. Heather Humphries officiating. Burial will be in the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.Mr. Walters is survived by his one and only love of 47 years, Judy A. Walters; two daughters, Rhonda Walters Vincent and her husband Kim of Lancaster and Pamela Walters Hinson and her husband Darren of Kershaw; a brother, David Walters of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Olivia Vincent, Ava Brooke Vincent, Matthew Wright, Preston Wright, Trevor Hinson, and Ethan Hinson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwen Deese and Jan Walters.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at his home, 4322 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster.Memorial contributions may be made to Buford Fire Department, 1893 North Rocky River Road, Lancaster, SC 29720; to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, SC 29720; or to American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
