Miss Mary Edna Harper, 89, of Lancaster passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. She was born February 11, 1925 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late George William Harper and Addie Kirk Hagins Harper. She went to be with her Lord surrounded by her family and friends. She had retired from Springs Industries after 42 years. A lifelong member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, she had taught a Sunday School class for many years and was a member of the Myrtle Bowling Circle and the Golden Agers. She enjoyed traveling and camping and working with her flowers.A service to celebrate the life of Miss Harper will be held Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 3:00 pm at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill McCown and Rev. Dr. Eddie Usher officiating. Burial will be in the St. Luke United Methodist Church Cemetery.Miss Harper is survived by a sister, Annie Sue Steele and her husband Robert Lee of Lancaster; a niece Leanne Steele Bailey; great nieces, Emilee Bailey Vaughn and her husband Ryan and Sara Grace Bailey; great nephew, Jacob Bailey; great great nephew, Parker Vaughn; great great niece, Kennedy Vaughn and her special friend and caregiver, Jeannie Killian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother in law, Billy Kirk.The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at St. Luke United Methodist Church and other times at the home of Annie Sue and Robert Lee Steele, 241 Community Lane, Lancaster.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Miss Harper.
