Best teacher I ever had. Mrs. Hayes was one of those you never forget.
Your mother influenced so many lives as a teacher and her out going nature and compassion for her students inspired all of us to do more than we thought that we could. I again met Ms Lou at Walgreens and she endeared herself to all who met her. Our deepest sympathies for your loss. She was one of a kind.
Joy and family, so sorry for your loss. Lou was a very special person. I enjoyed being around her. My prayers and cares are with you all. Kathie Monroe Carnes
Joy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in your loss of Mrs. Lou. She was always so sweet to my Mon, always stoping to speak to her and tell her she loved her even when Mom counldn't answer her or understand that she was talking to her. And she always ask me about "the Babies" when I didnt have them with me. I will surely miss her at the nurshing home. I know that soon l'll find myself in your shoes but we can have peace in knowing that we took care of them to the best of our ability and loved them to the end. I know that Mrs Lou is in a better place and having no trouble walking and talking today and so will my Mom be when the Lord calls her home. Please know that I love you and will contintue to pray for you in the days and months ahead. May God give you peace as only He can. God Bless, Rose (Mrs. Horton's daughter)
Lou Hayes was a great mentor to me when I started my teaching career at Lancaster High School. I really appreciated all of her help. She was a good person to know.

Lou was a good friend and will be sorely missed. She made the uncommon effort to assist her students and friends through out her life. A loyal and committed Gamecock supporter all her life. The times we shared will always be treasured. Don S. Rushing
