Johnnie Smith Hance

Mrs. Johnnie Smith Hance, 73, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Palmetto Parkridge Hospital in Irmo. She was born December 22, 1941 in Jefferson. She was the daughter of the late Mace Funderburk Smith and John Taft Smith of Lancaster. She was a former coach and board member of Lancaster Dixie Baseball. She was instrumental in working to form a Lancaster Dixie Softball League in Lancaster. She was the first president of Lancaster Dixie Softball. She was of the Baptist faith.Mrs. Hance is survived by a son, Chad D. Hance of West Columbia, a grandson, Weston Hance of Sharon, SC; a granddaughter, Ann Marie Russell of Rock Hill; three nieces; a nephew; a great niece; three great nephews and two great great nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Funderburk, Kate Smith and Ann S. Harper.There will be a private service later.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at Lancaster Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to Lancaster Dixie Baseball and Softball or Lancaster County Special Needs and Disability Board.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Hance.Read Obituary
