After 2 years, I found out Dr. Willis had died. He was my doctor from the time he started practicing at the old Springs Hospital 1968 or 1969 until he retired. He delivered our daughter April 2, 1972. I fell in love/like with him due to my
giving birth. I was young, scared and everything else giving birth for the first time. A nurse told me that it did not hurt. Dr. Willis patted me on knee and said, "Jerri, we know it hurts." Automatic love.I

I know it has been a long time since his death but I feel better just writing it down. RIP you wonderful man.

Alice Willis

Thank you for sharing. I always enjoy hearing from those that loved Daddy. A safe delivery of a healthy baby and mother was his joy in life! Alice Willis

Jeff Brooker

Mrs. Willis and all John's Family:

I was sorry to learn from MUSC today that John died in March this year but thought it was good he was at home.
Much of this thought is attributed to Susan Anthony: "Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings; not the goals achieved. The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced— stray thoughts that wander in, maybe alter perspective over time but simply never leave. Our lives are measured by these."
I feel John understood this and hope that the good times you shared will help mitigate the sorrow you feel this close to his passing.

Dear Dr. Brooker,
My mother very much appreciated your kind words. She said that Daddy very much enjoyed your friendship at MUSC and your friendship over the years. Sincerely, Alice Willis
