Mr. Jimmy Wayne Lucas, 66, of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at CMC Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. He was born November 3, 1948 in Great Falls, a son of the late Eugene Lucas and Frances McElveen Lucas. Mr. Lucas was a patriotic American, who served our country as a soldier in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and had been an RA leader. Mr. Lucas had an interest in several activities. He was an avid shagger, loved buying and selling old cars and he enjoyed camping.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Lucas will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Robinson and the Rev. Gary Hensley officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Lancaster Memorial Park.Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife, Gayle Bowers Lucas; three daughters, Christi Gardner and her husband Ronald, Amanda Scott and her husband Benji and Charlotte Lucas and her fiancé Travious; a brother, Ricky Lucas and his wife Teresa of Great Falls; a sister, Elsie Hornsby and her husband Ken of Winnsboro; and five grandchildren, Logan, Jordan and Madelynn Gardner, Kamryn Cloud and Piper Scott.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jimmy and Gayle Lucas, 1512 Magnolia Drive, Lancaster.Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church, 2066 Airport Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Lucas.
