Mr. James Howard Davis, 83, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was born September 4, 1932 in Kershaw, a son of the late Simon Elmo Davis and Lillian Mae McDonald Davis. He was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. He had retired from the US Air Force. He was a life member of the DAV, was a member of the National Association for Uniformed Services, and the Retired Enlisted Association. He was a locksmith. He was a lifetime musician, a well-known and a highly regarded fiddle player. He could play anything with strings. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Davis will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 11:00 am at Lancaster Memorial Park with the Rev. Odell Sullivan officiating. Burial will be with Military Honors. Mr. Davis is survived by three sons, Andrew J. Davis and his wife Jennifer of Morrisonville, New York, Kevin J. Davis and his wife Melissa of Hannibal, New York, and Danny A. Davis and his wife Shelley of Keeseville, New York; a sister, Betty Demby of Lancaster; and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Sarah Twitty, Albert Davis, William Davis, Oscar Davis, and an infant little sister. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Lancaster Funeral Home. Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Davis.
