Mr. James Arthur Coley, 90, of Lancaster, widower of Virginia Davis Coley, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born May 23, 1925 in Concord, NC, a son of the late Arthur Coley and Essie Bass Coley. A US Army Veteran, Mr. Coley was a member of Catawba Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Coley will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Catawba Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean Stroud, Rev. Thurmond Johnson and Rev. Tim Blue officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.Mr. Coley is survived by a son, Doug Coley and his wife Aguri of Hercules, California; a brother, John Coley and his wife Louise of Rock Hill; two sisters, Ruth Wyndham of Rock Hill and Betty Matthews of Van Wyck; numerous nieces and nephews; and last but not least, his faithful companion, Trigger. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Coley was preceded in death by a son Danny Ray Coley; a granddaughter, Patricia Blood; four brothers, J. C. Coley, Jerry Coley, Jason Coley and Joe Coley; and a sister, Dorothy Satterfield.Memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Baptist Church, 1144 Riverside Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Catawba Baptist Church.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Coley.

Doug so sorry to hear about your Dad we certainly have a lot of memories. Being our neighbor for 23 yrs., always staying in touch with us. Dec., 2015 was the only yr. he missed sending us a Christmas card since Dec., 1987. We should rejoice knowing he is having a wonderful time seeing Jesus and his loved ones. James, if you can hear me,I will never forget the lemon cream pies you brought to our home when JC was so ill,He enjoyed those pies.
