Harold Norman Allen

Mr. Harold Norman Allen, 87, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born February 15, 1930 in Pelzer, a son of the late Carl Clifton Allen and Clara Lindley Allen. Mr. Allen was a member of First A.R.P. Church. He served our country in the U.S. Navy and he was a veteran of the Korean War. In 1955 he graduated from Furman University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics and Business Administration. Mr. Allen retired with 36 years of service in Accounting from Springs Industries. He and his wife enjoyed gardening and sharing their bounty with friends and neighbors. Mr. Allen enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing. He was very civic minded. Mr. Allen served as treasurer of the Catawba Lions Club and assistant treasurer of the Sunday School.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Allen will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11 am at First A.R.P. Church with the Rev. Dr. Kyle Sims officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Betty H. Allen of Lancaster; two sisters, Doris Thomas and Helen McCall and her husband Johnny all of Pelzer; and 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Allen; three brothers, Clyde Allen, Marvin Allen and Charles Allen; and a sister, Mildred Watts.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at First A.R.P.
