Mrs. Hallie Smith Hammond, 95, of Heath Springs, widow of Furman Samuel Hammond, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born September 1, 1919 near Monroe, NC, a daughter of the late Ellis Eugene Smith and Sarah Baker Smith. Mrs. Hammond was a member of Jones Crossroads Baptist Church and was a former member of Taylors Grove Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for thirty five years.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hammond will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Taylors Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Howell and Rev. Joey McNeill officiating. Burial will be in the Taylors Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.Mrs. Hammond is survived by a son, Rev. Mike Hammond and his wife Gail of Heath Springs; and a sister, Lois Curlee of Black Mountain, NC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Emmett Smith.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mike and Gail Hammond, 6170 John Haile Road, Heath Springs.Memorial contributions may be made to Jones Crossroads Baptist Church, 3107 Oakland Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Hammond.Read Obituary
