Georgia Courtney Davis

Mrs. Georgia Courtney Davis, 80, of Pageland, widow of Rev. John Townley Davis, Jr., passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Hospice of Union County, Monroe, NC. She was born June 4, 1934 in Pageland, a daughter of the late George Washington Courtney and Ethel Hicks Courtney. Mrs. Davis was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Marshville. She was a devoted pastor’s wife, dedicated servant of her Lord, accomplished musician, seamstress, excellent chef and adoring mother and grandmother. Mrs. Davis enjoyed the company of her family and friends and loved to make people laugh.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Davis will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 2 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 3236 Landsford Road, Marshville, NC 28103 with the Rev. Randy Davis and Rev. Ernest Mungo officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Pageland, SC.Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Rev. Randy Davis and his wife Kathy and Mike Davis and his wife Judy all of Monroe; two brothers, Dwight Courtney and his wife Arline and Pete Courtney all of Pageland; a sister, Jerolyn Mungo and her husband Ernest of Monroe; three grandchildren, Jennifer Dunn and her husband Travis, Amanda Drake and her husband Jeff, and Blake R. Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Bowen Drake and Davis Dunn.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Lancaster Funeral Home, 709 North White Street and other times at the home, 544 Paul Hurst Road, Pageland.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Davis.Read Obituary
